Our mild climate makes outdoor activities enjoyable year round. Modesto is in the heart of ‘the' greatest agricultural areas in our nation, the fertile San Joaquin Valley. Dairy products, almonds, walnuts, peaches, apricots, cherries, tomatoes, apples, row crops, wine grapes, and poultry products are some of our top commodities. Over 200 different commodities are raised in the area. If you visit during early spring, the beautiful orchards in bloom will delight you. May through November is harvest season. The climate in our area is very pleasant, with mild winters and comfortable summers moderated by it's proximity to San Francisco Bay and the coastal mountain ranges... annual rainfall is usually around 18 inches, it rarely snows.... it's at least partly sunny about 265 days a year...

Modesto is also served by US Route 99, California State Route 132 AND California State Route 108... for longer journeys the Modesto City-County Airport lies next to the Tuolumne River in the southeastern end of the city, just north of the City of Ceres.
